Finding Answers About Sex | Planned Parenthood Video

Caroline never had "the talk" with her family about sex. She spent her adolescent years not knowing what the changes in her body meant or how to take care of herself properly. Thanks to Planned Parenthood, she finally got the answers she'd been looking for. Transcript: For the longest time I remember my parents telling me if you have sex, you're never going to be able to wear white. A wave of guilt was placed on us. Discussions of what is sex and how do you protect yourself, those were never brought up. I was in sixth grade having my period for the first time and being so traumatized because I didn't understand this. I just felt lost through the whole thing. It wasn't until [I was] like 20 or 21 that I finally talked with my friends about things that they were going through and they were experiencing, and my friend suggested I should go to Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood helped me finally get a good grasp on what sex is, what I needed to do to be proactive in making sure I'm healthy. For me, Planned Parenthood meant the difference between feeling lost and finally finding answers. Planned Parenthood just gave me this relief that I've been looking for this entire time.
