Even when, like, I’ve had insurance, haven’t had insurance, I go to Planned Parenthood because I feel very comfortable with going to Planned Parenthood. GFX: On June 30, four Planned Parenthood health centers in Iowa will be forced to close after the state rejected federal funding for family planning. GFX: Almost 15,000 patients will lose access to their trusted health provider. GFX: Sara is one of those patients. Sara: My mom basically raised me and my brother. She’s always been there for me. Sara’s Mom: You know what? I don’t care if you’re a Republican or a Democrat. It doesn’t matter. Don’t vote for an idiot. Sara: When I was 16, she wrote me this note and put it, like, on my desk. And she’s like, I would like you to wait ‘til you’re married to have sex. But if you choose not to, you know how to be safe and protect yourself. Take your best friend, go to down to Planned Parenthood, get on birth control, and make sure you’re taking care of YOUR responsibilities. Sara in background: God is good, God is great. Let us thank Him for our food. Amen. Sara: So when I was 19, I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. I started collecting dogs after I was told I couldn’t have kids. Sara: I am very Christian, I believe in God. But, we were given free will. I know without being able to have children, what it’s like to not have a choice. I would never wish that on anybody. I think everybody should have a choice and be able to make their own choice that’s right for them.
